The Viola Project welcomes all youth ages 10-16 who culturally identify as girls and women. Our students are welcomed regardless of their race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation or ability.

All camps run from 9am-3pm Monday-Friday unless otherwise noted.

“I would my horse had the speed of your tongue”
Join us for one of Shakespeare’s most hilarious comedies. A story of he-said, she-said, Much Ado About Nothing is a play about communication gone terribly wrong. When Claudio hears that his fiancé Hero has been cheating on him, he throws a royal temper tantrum. Rather than believe her, it’s up to Hero’s cousin Beatrice and her friends to set the story straight. In addition to our scene work, we’ll delve into how modern day social media can connect and disconnect, as well as how to root out fake news before it drives you mad.

Shakespeare's plays are filled with evil doers. From king killers to chaos creators, these baddies are determined to play the villains. Join The Viola Project as we explore the likes of Richard III, Claudius, Caliban, and more. Whether you've got a streak of mischief yourself or just want to explore the dark side, we'll match you with a character that you'll just love to hate!

“I have no other but a woman's reason”
Shakespeare challenged traditional gender roles in nearly every play, and most definitely with every performance! From a company of all men performing women’s roles, to female characters dressing up as boys, all the way to The Viola Project, Shakespeare’s expansive idea of gender is timeless as it is relevant. For our final week of camp we’ll examine gender at every turn; from “shrewish” Kate who eventually submits (or does she?) to her husband, to Romeo’s “womanish” tears, we’ll take a hard look at gender bias in Shakespeare plays, and in our world.
**This camp is recommended for ages 12-16 or by permission.**
